The Adirondack Core more an idea than a place. It's wild and messy. It rains a lot. It's muddy. There are annoying insects. Water flows everywhere. The woods are thick. The Adirondack Core is where elevation, climate and a still raw glacial landscape support a remnant of the great northern forest, the boreal forest.

Seasons can arrive suddenly, or sometimes they linger. It can snow on Memorial Day and it can rain for a week at pretty much any time of year. The vagaries of weather, overlaid on the relentless march of the seasons, means that each year is different. So you have to pay attention. That's what the videos and this website are all about. Paying attention.

The videos we call "Dispatches" attempt to convey the beauty and variety of the region that we love. Please visit the Youtube channel and take a look.
